DMS Powders produces Ferrosilicon powders, mainly for use in mineral processing in a process called Dense Media Separation. Dense Media or Heavy Medium Separation is a process that involves mixing Ferrosilicon powder with water to form a pulp of a specific density. Once the required density is reached, the diamond- bearing material is submerged into the mixture. The swirling of the tank then assists the separation process, as heavier particles are pushed to the sides and bottom of the mixture. Material with higher densities will thus sink to the bottom, while lighter material will float.
