The monitoring and analytics of social media can assist with government agencies to make faster and more intelligent decisions. Some of the decisions made can be predictive like with a sporting event or parade. But with the correct tools some decisions can be made quickly like when a natural disaster hits and quick action is needed.
During the month of January 2010, Toyota faced a problem as 2.3 million cars had to be recalled due to accelerator pedals that were problematic. This is where social media harmed them more as everybody was discussing it on chat platforms. In the 1980’s Audi had a similar problem but didn’t get half the attention as there were no social media platforms around.
