How do Internet Search Engines work?
Anton Wilson

Posted by Anton Wilson On September - 22 - 2009

Even though internet search engines differ in the way they search due to unique code in their programming, their basic operations remain the same.  Internet users enter key phrases or keywords into a text box of the internet search engine when they want to research something.  The internet search engine then compares this key phrase or keyword to the websites contained within its index files; results pages are subsequently generated based on how relevant the websites are to the key phrase or keyword.  The results listing of the internet search engine can either contain only a few entries or thousands of entries.  All of the websites listed will thus have some or other relevance to the key phrases or keywords entered.
